Functional Integration
In close cooperation with strong industrial partners we develop further advanced products, e. g. bipolar plates with integrated sealing on both plate sides.
A further functional integration is the surface modification of fuel cells regarding their wettability. In the past years Schunk has examined and qualified different methods for the use in PEMFC. We can modify your bipolar plate surface wettability in order to optimize the water contact angles, as requested for your fuel cell operation.
Both pictures show the contact area of two water droplets with the same volume. The left picture has a hydrophilic surface and a large contact angle, whereas the right picture exhibits a drastically reduced contact angle and represents a hyhrophobic surface condition.
